The Mobile Training Unit visits Pacific Western Toronto
Toronto, July 7, 2010 - Pacific Western Toronto welcomed the Mobile Training Unit (MTU) to its Ordan office on Thursday, June 10th. Clients, guests and employees were invited to board the training motor coach and test their own skills operating the motor coach driving simulator. The state-of-the art driving simulator was unveiled to much fanfare, including Mississauga Mayor, Hazel McCallion.
The simulator utilizes the same advanced training technology employed by the aviation industry, whereby operators are able to experience a realistic driving environment where they can practice safe driving techniques in a risk-free setting. The simulated settings include icy roads, fog, flat tires and many more. Installing the unit aboard an actual highway motor coach provides Pacific Western Transportation a high level of flexibility; allowing divisions across the organization to take advantage of the MTU's training capabilities.
Though the Mobile Training Unit's Toronto visit was brief, the experience proved beneficial to all who attended. The MTU program is just one of many initiatives by Pacific Western Transportation to use technology in the continuous effort to improve operational safety and performance.
